Orsay Museum (Musée d’Orsay) is one of the two important art museums in Paris, even sometimes more important than Louvre Museum for many Parisians who love the art of painting. The building that houses the Orsay Museum is located near the Jardins des Tuileries which is separated by the Seine River. Nearby is an old railway station having the same name with the museum. And the building was built for World Trade Fair which was held in 1900.

Orsay Museum Tickets – Address; Rue de Lille, 62, Paris. How To Get To Orsay Museum; Metro line 12, Solferino / RER station: Line C, Station Museé d’Orsay. Opening Hours; Tuesday to Sunday 9.30 am – 6.00 pm / Thursday open until 9.45 pm. Closed on May 1 and December 25. Ticket Prices; the normal ticket for all exhibitions is € 12. One-day ticket with fast track entrance without waiting queue is € 14 and you can buy it here. Discounted entrance costs € 9 for 18 to 25 years old who are not citizens of the European Union and also if you visit the museum after 16:30 (except Thursdays) and Thursdays after 18:00. Free entrance for; children under 18 years old, the first Sundays of each month, European citizens between 18 – 25 years old (including long-term residents) and also free entrance with Paris Pass Card.
What To See in Orsay Museum
Orsay Museum is dedicated to the fine arts of the nineteenth century, specifically between 1848 and 1914 and is famous for the collections of impressionist art belonging to important artists such as Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne and Monet.
You can also have the opportunity to see the artworks of many famous artists like Gaugin, Van Gogh, Seurat etc from other countries.
Apart from extensive collection of precious paintings, Orsay Museum also has a worth to see collections of sculpture, photography, decorative arts and architectural elements.
The central nave of the building is covered by a glass and steel vault, which illuminates the interior with natural light and retains the charm of an old train station.

Orsay Museum “The Friendly Museum”
The galleries of Orsay Museum are easy to walk and contemplate and the collections are very complete, so it is a highly recommended option, especially if you do not want a place as extensive as the Louvre Museum or if you have a few days in the city and you do not want to spending too much time inside a museum. Additionaly there is a lovely view of Paris from the old clock level of the station and it is definitely recommend to have a look.
